SuperValu to Anchor Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre

SuperValu has been announced as the new anchor for Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre following the exit of the Tesco Convenience Store earlier this year.

Dublin, 12 October 2011 - George Ross of Jones Lang LaSalle, letting agent on behalf of the landlords, Coltard, confirms that “the landlords had received expressions of interest from a number of potential anchor replacements. However, they decided to go with SuperValu as they felt it was the best fit for their customer profile in the centre”.

According to the landlords agent in a recent market research survey carried out in the area by Jonathan Plaice & Associates; 80% of the people surveyed said they would use SuperValu for their main shop, while over 95% of individuals surveyed said that they would also use the store for a top-up shop if it was available in Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre.
George Ross says this highlights the frustration local shoppers have expressed with the lack of grocery options in the immediate Dun Laoghaire area.  SuperValu are taking a gross floor area of close to 30,000 sq ft and are due to open prior to Christmas.

The SuperValu opening is the latest in a long list of new entrants to the centre following the centre’s 9 million refurbishment which finished in 2009.  Other new tenants include Carraig Donn, Treat yer Feet, Tiger, Dolls Fashion, Nichols Fabrics and Keegan Footwear.
